Yuliya Khorvat

Coach, Blade Club

30 years in coaching, ex-National Team Member of Russia, ex-Singapore National Coach for Youth Development, ex-Coach of Russian National Team fencers and Snigapore National Team fencers.

Yuliya graduated from the Lenin State Central Physical Training Institute in 1984 with a Diploma (Degree Equivalent) in Sports and Physical Training. She is awarded the qualification of Teacher of Sports and Physical Training. She has also been awarded the Master of Sports of the USSR. Starting 1984, Yuliya has been coaching fencing at the Sports Children and Youth's School of the Olympic Reserve in Khimki, Moscow.

1986 – Championship of Russia, 2nd place – Orlova N., Rybnikova S.
1987 – Championship of Russia, 1st place – Klokov G.
1987 – Championship of USSR, 3rd place – Klovo G.
1988 – Championship of Russia, 1st place – Khvedchenya N. and Championship of USSR, 3rd place – Khevedchenya N.
1989 – Championship of Russia, 4th place – Konstantinova N., Antipova b. in the team
1990 – Championship of Russia and USSR, 2nd place - Chernyshova
1993 – Championship of Russia and USSR, 1st place – Volkova A.
1994 – World Championship, Mexico, 10 – personal, 3rd place in the framework of the team
2000 to 2003 – Multiple prize winner of Europe and World Championship within the framework of Azerbaijan team

From 2005 to 2008, she joined Fencing Singapore as a youth development coach for foil to develop fencing in Singapore. She was also the assistant foil coach preparing the national women's foil team for SEA Games 2005 and 2007. The women's foil team won SEA Games gold medal for team in both 2005 and 2007.

Since joining Blade Club part time in 2009, she has started to coach CHIJ Saint Joseph's Convent. Joining Blade Club full time in November 2009, she has also coached Saint Margaret's Secondary School and Yishun Junior College.

Yuliya is also currently coaching one of our other coaches Nontapat Panchan (multiple SEA Games gold medalist and Siilver medallist at Asian Fencing Championships, Olympian) and assisting him in preparing for the Olympics in London 2012.

Apart from her degree in Physical Education, she has First Aid certification and is also a registered coach under the SSC/MOE Sports Education Programme (SEP).
