We had a blast at the Blade Club Under-12 Fencing Competition 2010! Congratulations to the winners, and we hope that everyone had as much fun as we did organizing it. For those who missed it, the event was held on the 29th of May @ *SCAPE (the new building next to Orchard Cineleisure).

Blade Club has kicked off with a very strong showing for the 2010 competition season. We won 8 Golds, and many Silvers and Bronzes out of a total of 12 (individual and team events) for the National Novices 2010 – the winners are students from our many affiliate schools as well as our retail class students.
Congratulations to the our champions and other medal winners!

Our fencers from Blade Club and our affiliated schools had a great showing at the recent National Junior and Cadet Trials. With 12 events over 2 days, it was a very hectic competition. Some of our younger fencers also took part in both competitions and had to fence on both Saturday and Sunday of the competition weekend, no small feat. Overall, Blade Club has managed the best showing in terms of Golds: with 3 Golds out of 6 for the Juniors event, and 2 Golds out of 6 for the Cadets event. We also had 3 Silvers and 3 Bronzes.

At the recently concluded Hwa Chong fencing competition, Blade Club fencers again performed well. This competition was banded by age groups (though some groups were merged due to a lack of fencers), so there were actually 10 events, spread over all 6 categories of weapons. Blade Club fencers, most of them representing their own schools, took part in 8 of these 10 events.
Of these 8, we won 5 Golds, 3 Silvers, and 4 Bronzes - our fencers placed 1st or 2nd in all of the events they took part in. In fact, each of the 2nd place finishers only lost by 1 point in some really close finals. So congratulations to everyone for fighting well and the excellent results! |
